Yorkshire 2023

During lockdown, many choir Music Directors joined a group on Facebook, Jane Smith included. Debbie Allenby, MD of the Dales Community Pop Choir, based in Yorkshire, was also a member. The Dales Community Pop Choir had performed at Tennants Garden Rooms in Leyburn several times. Chairman Rodney Tennant suggested to Debbie that they should perform with the Leyburn Brass Band. Debbie posted on the Facebook group asking if there was a male voice choir available to take part in the concert. Jane replied straight away.

So there we were, on a coach from Seer Green heading to north Yorkshire for what turned out to be an excellent, and emotional, concert in the Garden Rooms on Sunday 17th September 2023. Of course we made a weekend of it. We stopped at a couple of breweries on the way - at the first, Round Corner Brewing in Melton Mowbray, we sang in exchange for a drink. Lovely beer, especially the Kölch. So lovely that quite a lot found its way onto the coach for the onward journey.

We were warmly welcomed by the ladies of the Dales Community Pop Choir for a joint rehearsal on Saturday.

This was followed by an impromptu performance in Leyburn market place...

On to the rehearsal in the Garden Rooms on Sunday. Rebecca was busy conducting everyone, so Jane and Debbie had time for a selfie!

Having changed into concert attire, we formed up for a rather special photo...

And then to the performance, in front of a packed house. What a fabulous venue Tennants Garden Rooms is, with excellent acoustics.
